When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aula Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Thursday 26 December 2019) at 05:13 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Thursday 26 December 2019) and (Friday 27 December 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Friday 27 December 2019 and in the Western Region will be on Friday 27 December 2019. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdellatif Fareh from كوينين City in الوادي State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "رغم تأكدي من أن الحسابات الفلكية تقول بعدم إمكانية رؤية الهلال، إلا أننا حاولنا رغم وجود السحب بالأفق الغربي، و لم نتمكن من رؤيته."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Jumadal Ula 1441 AH was not seen from Rowasiya Observatory at Bendo Ketitag Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia on Thursday, Dec 26, 2019. The sky was cloudy.

Today, there was Partial Solar Eclipse in Java Indonesia. "

Results: Moon crescent was not seen by binocular.

Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane said: "توصلت جمعية المبادرة المغربية للعلوم والفكر بصور من مختلف مدن المغرب التي تؤكد عدم ثبوت رؤية الهلال، وقد شاركت في تحري الهلال مع مندوبية الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية بالناظور التي أرسلت محضر عدم الثبوت الى الوزارة...واستغربت الجمعية صدور ثبوت الرؤية من مرصد سدير رغم أن السعودية شهدت كسوفا حلقيا تم رؤيته ورصده وتمت صلاة الكسوف بالحرمين وهذا التصرف من المرصد يؤكد استمراره في تجاهل فتاوى ابن العثيمين وعدم اعترافه بما هو فلكي."

Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +3.5 GMT)
Equipments: Three set of 15*70 binoculars, One set of 7*50 binoculars,  One compass.
Atmospheric condition: hazy
Horizon obstacles: about 2.5°
Apparent Sunset: 16:55
Results: Moon crescent was seen by 15*70 binoculars by Ali Janghorbani at 17:04, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by binoculars subsequently. Moon crescent was seen by naked eye by Roya Ghermezi at 17:14, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by naked eye subsequently.

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Christiansburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location a few minutes after sunset (sunset: 5:12 pm EST).  The western horizon was mostly cloudy (see the attached image).  At 5:35 pm, the crescent appeared in a small opening and very quickly it was covered by clouds.  The horns were approximately at 2:00 and 7:00 O'clock (2:00;4:30;7:00).  Soon, I left the area.  Later, I resumed sighting in Blacksburg, hoping to see crescent in another opening close to the horizon.  I stayed in the new location till moonset unable to see the crescent again (moonset: 6:41 pm).  At 5:35 pm, the temperature, dew point, relative humidity, and pressure were 50.0 F, 45.0 F, 81%, and 30.28 in, respectively, at Virginia Tech airport a few miles away."
