When to Observe Safar Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Tuesday 07 September 2021) at 00:52 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Tuesday 07 September 2021) and (Wedensday 8 September 2021) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Wedensday 08 September 2021 and in the Western Region will be on Wedensday 08 September 2021. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Shafar 1443 AH was not sighted on Tuesday, September 07, 2021 from Assalaam Observatory at The Islamic Modern Boarding School ASSALAAM, Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesi even by Telescope. The west sky was partly cloudy."

Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "Started watching the sunset from 7:30 pm with a clear view of the western horizon, but the moon was not seen well after sunset. The western horizon became hazy so couldn't see the bright star, Venus on the left the moon, either."

Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 6:53 pm EDT (apparent sunset: 7:36; actual sunset: 7:43 pm).  The western horizon was partly cloudy and very hazy.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I scanned the openings where the moon supposed to be based on the Stellarium software.  I could not see the moon.  By the time I saw Mercury (by the binoculars), the moon would have been very close to the horizon and thus very difficult to be seen.  I continued my search till moonset (moonset: 8:28 pm)."

Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "It was partly cloudy and hazy in York today (8/9/2021) after sunset, but I managed to see the Safar 1443 Hilal with a pair of binoculars (20x80) quite easily at 8:07 pm BST but it soon went down behind a patch of dark clouds above the horizon (see photos) and so I was unable to see it with the naked eye (as I wear glasses)."

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 7:49 pm EDT (sunset: 7:41 pm).  The western horizon was partly cloudy and very hazy.  Upon my arrival, I sighted Venus with naked eye.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon.  My first binocular sighting of the moon was at 7:53 pm.  Immediately after, I could see the crescent with naked eye.  It was bright enough to be seen through thin clouds.  The moon could have been easily sighted earlier.  The horns were approximately at 2:00 and 6:30 O'clock (2:00;4:30;6:30).  After a few minutes it disappeared under thicker clouds only to reappear for a short time while I was leaving the site.  Soon, it set behind clouds hugging the horizon around 8:23 pm (moonset: 8:57 pm)."
