When to Observe Rabee' Al-Aakher Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Tuesday 26 November 2019) at 15:06 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Tuesday 26 November 2019) and (Wedensday 27 November 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Thursday 28 November 2019 and in the Western Region will be on Thursday 28 November 2019. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Banouh Nouh Mefnoune from مسطّح ڤار الطعام ( المنطقة الصناعية لبونورة) City in ولاية غرداية State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Banouh Nouh Mefnoune said: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم والصلاة والسلام على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه ومن تبعه بإحسان إلى يوم الدين. وبعد، فقد تمكن بفضل الله ومنّه ثلاثة أشخاص من محضرة الشيخ أبي العباس أحمد الوليلي رحمه الله من رؤية هلال ربيع الثاني بعد حوالي نصف ساعة من غروب الشمس الظاهري على مسطّح ڤار الطعام قرب محطة نافطال، وكان حينئذ على يسار الشمس بحوالي أصبعين ويعلو الأفق بنفس المقدار تقريبا مشيرا بقرنيه تقريبا إلى الساعة السابعة وخمس دقائق، وكان رفيعا وضوئه خافتا يصعب للرؤية مع وجود سحاب خفيف في سماء غربية صافية على العموم، و بلغتنا أنباء عن رؤيته بالعين المجردة في مناطق أخرى من ولاية غرداية، والحمد الله وله الأمر من قبل ومن بعد."

Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "تم بعون الله تعالى و فضله ثبوت رؤية هلال شهر ربيع الآخر 1441 رغم السحب التي كانت في الأفق الغربي، و كان ذلك بمعية الأخوين نقودي مسعود بن عمارة و هطلي زهير بن محمد، الرؤية تمت أولا بالاستعانة بالمنظار ثم ثبتت بالعين المجردة."

Eng. Ali Majeed Al Hajari said: "تم رصد قمر شهر ربيع الثاني صباح هذا اليوم الأربعاء 27 نوفمبر 2019 في تمام الساعة (08:20) صباحً بتوقيت مملكة البحرين."

Brunei Darussalam


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad from Bukit Agok City in Tutong State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad said: "The western sky was cloudy near the horizon, scopes were aligned using the 3 planet - Venus, Saturn and Jupiter - as the Sun was most of the time behind the clouds.

 The new 19-hour old crescent moon of Rabiulakhir was sighted today, on Wednesday evening (November 27th) by moon-sighters of Brunei Darussalam Astronomical Society at 6.31pm, when the curved light was less than 2 degrees above the horizon. "



Hong Kong


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from Victoria Peak City in Hong Kong Island State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "I was travelling in Hong Kong and decided to visit Victoria Peak to observe sunset and the crescent moon. So, here are some photos I took on Thu 28/11/2019 18:10 GMT+8 for future reference. JazakAllah"



Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset.Seen by others: ICOP member Mr. ِِِArwinjuli from Medan City in North Sumatera State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



2 . Time of observation: After sunset.Seen by others: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Rabi' Tsani 1441 was not seen on Wednesday, Nov 27, 2019 from my location at Assalaam Observatory in Surakarta Central Java. The sky was very hazy.

The new crescent was seen from Kupang, Ternate, Gowa and several places at east region of Indonesia. The moon was not sighted by naked eye, the crescent was sighted and captured only by telescope.

The 1st of Rabi' Tsani 1441 in Indonesia will start on Thursday, Nov 28, 2019."



Iran

Date: Wedensday, 11/27/2019
Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +3.5 GMT)
Equipments: Two set of 15*70 binoculars, One set of 20*90 binoculars,  One compass.
Atmospheric condition: hazy
Horizon obstacles: about 2°
Apparent Sunset: 16:48
Results: Moon crescent was seen by 20*90 binoculars by Ali Janghorbani at 17:14, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by binoculars subsequently. Moon crescent was seen by naked eye by MohammadJavad Nikeghbal and Hossein Janghorbani at 17:28, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by naked eye subsequently.
Mr.Reza Janghorbani based in the city of Babol in Mazandaran province   due to  partly cloudy weather, Not see the crescent moon.

Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane said: "ثبوت رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة في الجهة الشرقية: وجدة-تاوريرت-الناظور...وتعذرها بسبب الغيوم في بعض المدن: طنجة-العرائش-الرباط-الدار البيضاء.
وقد شاركت جمعية المبادرة المغربية للعلوم والفكر مع مندوبية الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية بالناظور وثبت رؤية الهلال في محضر رسمي."

Mr. Walid Jadar said: "تمت رؤية الهلال بصعوبة بالعين المجردة  في حدود الساعة 18:23 بتوقيت المملكة المغربية.
كما تمت رؤية الهلال بكل من مدن وجدة والناظور شرق المغرب "

Mr. Hatim El Harrak said: "تم اليوم محاولة تحري هلال شهر ربيع الآخر 1441 في مدينة العرائش حيث كانت الأجواء ملبدة بالغيوم والأمطار ونفس الأمر كان في مدينة طنجة غيوم وأمطار حالت دون رؤية الهلال وقد تم رصد الهلال في مدن أخرى مثل وجدة والناضور وتاوريرت والعيون من قبل راصدين آخرين سيتم إرسال تقارير الخاصة برؤية الهلال من قبلهم. 
وعليه فيوم غد الخميس هو فاتح شهر ربيع الآخر 1441 هجرية وتم الإعلان عنه رسميا في المغرب"

Eng. Mohammad Odeh said: "Maybe it was not seen by naked eye because of the clouds"

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 4:35 pm EST (sunset: 5:07 pm).  The western horizon was mostly clear.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the southwestern horizon.  Venus was seen at 4:46 pm by the binocular and then by naked eye at 5:06.  The first binocular-sighting of Jupiter was at 5:07 pm.  The naked eye sighting was at 5:23 pm, however.  My first binocular sighting of the crescent moon was at 5:12 pm.  The naked eye sighting was 8 minutes later at 5:20 pm.  The horns were at 2:00 and 6:30 O'clock (2:00;4:00;6:30).  The binocular sighting of Saturn was at 5:27 pm.  Later, I noticed that it was clearly visible by the naked eye at 5:44 pm.  I ended the session at 6:04 pm when the moon was very close to the horizon and still faintly visible (moonset: 6:11 pm)."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The old crescent of Rabiul Awal 1441 was not sighted on Monday, Nov 25, 2019 from Assalaam Observatory Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Surakarta Central Java, the sky was hazy."

Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "I was at a transit visit in Doha so decided to look for the waning/old moon (Unjunil Qadim) of Rabi-ul Awwal on 27th day from the Arabian Sea seaside/port  before sunrise but it was fairly cloudy so the moon was not seen. Enjoy the sea side photos anyway! :-)"



United States

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "On my way to my sighting location, I was able to sight the crescent with naked eye at 6:16 am EST (moonrise, 5:51 am).  The horns were approximately at 4:00 and 9:00 O'clock (4:00;6:30;9:00).  I arrived at my sighting place at 6:23 am and stayed there till 6:36 am.  I still could see the moon by a pair of binoculars (7X50) from home at 7:00 am (sunrise 7:12 am)."
