When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aula Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Saturday 01 March 2014) at 08:00 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Saturday 01 March 2014) and (Sunday 02 March 2014) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Saturday Sunday 02 March 2014 and in the Western Region will be on Sunday 02 March 2014. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Algeria


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Abdallah Ouragh from بريان City in تغردايت State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa from Ghardaia City in Ghardaia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Libya


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Mohamed Mogerby from Tripoly City in وسط البلد State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Mohamed Mogerby said: "دارالإفتاء هي الجهة الوحيدة والمخولة لتحديد بداية الأشهر القمرية ولديها معايير تعتمدها في حالة عدم ظهور الهلال وهذه المعايير هي :-

1- أن يمكث الهلال بعد غروب الشمس 20 دقيقة وقد مكث 24 دقيقة
2- أن يكون بعده على الشمس بمقدار 5 درجات وقدكان أكثر من خمس درجات .

وبعد تحقق هذه الشروط تم إعلان بأن يوم الأحد بتاريخ 2/3/2014 هو بداية شهر جمادى الأولى ."



Saudi Arabia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Ayyub Patel from Abha City in Aseer State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Ayyub Patel said: "Tried to observe from about 6pm to 6.30pm.  NOthing seen.  the crescent moon was only around 6 hrs old so it wasnt to be seen anyway. but we practiced the sunnah to sight the crescent on the 29th evening of rabi3ul thani."



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Saleh Al-Saab from Tabook City in Halat Amman State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was superb, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Tunisia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Bilel Besbes from المنستير City in المنستير State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "On Saturday 1 March 2014, the Hilal of Jumada Al-Ula 1435 AH was not seen anywhere in the UK."



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in VA State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location (Blacksburg Middle School) at 6:23 pm EST (sunset: 6:15 pm).  Soon after, using a pair of binoculars  (7X50), I started scanning the expected area.  The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy.  With no sighting success, I left the area past moonset (moonset: 6:59 pm). "



Sun 02 March 2014

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa from Ghardaia City in Ghardaia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa said: "(04) persons were present in N'tissa station with three binoculars. (7*50)/(7*50)/(15*50) The new crescent of Jumadal Awwal 1435 was not seen by naked eyes and by a binocular, the Sky Near The Western Horizon was Partly Cloudy and very hazy"



France

Seen: ICOP member Mr. Badredine Billel from Mulhouse City in Alsace State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Germany


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Gerhard Ahmad Kaufmann from Moerlanbach City in Hessen State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Gerhard Ahmad  Kaufmann said: "Very easy observation from the moment of sunset for about half an hour, when the crescent was eventually hidden by upcoming clouds."

Apparent sunset: 17:54
Results: Moon crescent was seen by Ali Janghorbani at 18:12 by naked eye for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by naked eye subsequently.

Seen: ICOP member Mr. Nular Bary from Borella City in Colombo 00800 State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Nular Bary said: "                  Assalamualikum W R W B.

Today 29th. Rabi al Thani 1435H (2/3/2014) evening the Colombo sky was partly clear, I was able to locate the Crescent at 6:51pm. with my Binocular first and then naked eye sighting my two sons Nabeel & Ansaf were witness the naked eye sighting with me (our Sunset was at 6:22pm.) and immediately I call over Colombo Grand Mosque Hilaal Committee and inform the sighting anyway committee have received many more positive naked eye sightings. Hence the committee decided  to start the month of Jumada al Oola Tomorrow, Monday 3rd. March 2014 "In Sha Allah"

Mr. Zaffar Sheriff said: "The crescent for the month of Jamadil Awwal 1435 was seen at 7.01pm"

Germany


1 . Time of observation: Before sunrise.Photographed: ICOP member Eng. Martin Elsaesser from Munich City in Bavaria State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "I could not observe the old crescent during morning twilight, so i had to try to observe it after sunrise. Lots of clouds were around and i did not have much time, but the imaging system easily showed the crescent at an elongation of 14°. I only had a very small lens with me, so i did not manage to see the crescent visually though this should have been possible with a more dedicated effort.
"

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The old crescent of Rabiul Akhir 1435 AH was seen by naked eye. When we will shoot the moon, it was covered by cloud fastly."

Mr. Kassim Bahali said: "The crescent was seen by naked eyes before sunrise."



Nigeria


1 . Time of observation: Before sunrise. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Sani Mustapha from kaduna City in kaduna State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Sani Mustapha said: "There was a thin horizontal milky appearance against black (dusty) background at about 5.30 a.m, that disappeared and never surfaced again. That milky appearance looked like the moon compared to its appearance the previous dawn. Probably that is what is called sighting by the experienced. The moon was see previous dawn at 5.26 a.m and disappeared around 6.15 a.m."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The crescent was not sighted because the east horizon was hazy."



Nigeria

Dr. Sani Mustapha said: "Generally, the Eastern horizon was dusty throughout the lunar month. My report on 28th was supposed to be that on 27th. On the 28th, the moon was not seen for 28th is equivalent to 27th RT.  "
