When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aula Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Tuesday 21 October 2025) at 12:25 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Tuesday 21 October 2025) and (Wedensday 22 October 2025) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Thursday 23 October 2025 and in the Western Region will be on Thursday 23 October 2025. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Jumadal Ula 1447 AH was not seen on Wednesday, Oct 22, 2025 from Assalaam Observatory, Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesia. The sky was totally cloudy."

 Date: Wedensday 10/22/2025
 Location: 40 Kilometer from Shahreza to Semiram road (Gardaneh Khoroosgeloo) (latitude: 31 42 N, longitude: 51 45 E, elevation: 2320m from sea level, time zone: +3.5 GMT) 
Equipments: One Set Of 4.5 Inch Telescope , One Compass. 
Atmospheric condition: Clear
Horizon obstacles: about .5° 
Apparent Sunset: 17:22
Results: The crescent moon was seen at 17:27 by Mr. Hossein Janghorbani with a 4.5-inch telescope as an incomplete and faint arc.
Many comets were seen with telescopes.
A strange object suspected of being a UFO was seen with 4.5 Inch Telescope  and is being investigated. In Bolton, at the time of sunset, the Moon was 1.18 days old (Age: +28:32:10), and it had set 14 minutes before sunset (Sunset: 17:57:19 and Moonset: 17:43:07).

Dr. Belal Alshammaa said: "هلال غرة شهر جمادى الأولى يبدو واضحا بالعين المجردة؛ ويظهر كوكب عطارد في إحدى الصور المرفقة، وقد رأيته من خلال المنظار (8×42). أما كوكب المريخ الذي ضمن ساحة التصوير فلم أتمكن من رؤيته إلا من خلال المرقب."



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Mr. Juned Patel said: "I travelled a 1000km round trip to try to see this moon with my naked eyes, but did not find a clear sky and could not try it."



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "It was partly cloudy in York today (23/10/2025), and the sunset was clearly visible, but the moon was not seen. Most of the UK was cloudy forecast after sunset, and so we have not received any positive sighting reports from anywhere in the UK at the time of this report."



United States

Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "Earlier today (Thursday, October 23, 2025), I used a pair of 7x50 binoculars to sight the crescent moon at 2:43 PM EDT. No serious attempt was made to sight the crescent with the naked eye, as the sky was mostly cloudy and hazy.

Later in the day, I arrived at my observation location at 6:08 PM (actual sunset was at 6:28 PM). The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy. Using the binoculars, I sighted the crescent moon at 6:13 PM. My first naked-eye sighting was at 6:18 PM with glasses, and without glasses at 6:31 PM. The horns of the crescent moon were approximately positioned at 1:30 and 6:00 o'clock (1:30; 3:00; 6:00). Optical aid sightings of Mercury and Mars occurred at 7:09 PM and 7:11 PM, respectively. I believe these sightings could have occurred earlier if I had not waited for the apparent moonset (around 7:09 PM) behind distant trees—actual moonset was at 7:20 PM."

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 6:52 am EDT (moonrise, 6:40).  My first sighting through binoculars was at 6:55 (7x50).  After 6 minutes, I spotted the crescent with the naked eye (only for a short time and with glasses).  The horns appeared roughly at 5:30 and 8:30 o'clock positions (5:30, 6:00, 8:30).  I left the area around 7:16 am when the moon was still visible through the binoculars (sunrise, 7:30).  "
