When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aakherah Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Wednesday 10 April 2013) at 09:35 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Wednesday 10 April 2013) and (Thursday 11 April 2013) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Friday 12 April 2013 and in the Western Region will be on Thursday 11 April 2013. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Nigeria


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Z.Sani Mustapha from kaduna City in kaduna State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Saudi Arabia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Saleh Al-Saab from Buraydah City in Gasseem State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "On Wednesday 10 April 2013 (29 Jumada Al-Ula 1434 AH) many people from the UK have attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Jumada Al-Ukhra after sunset. None of the groups were able to sight the Hilal, as most places were cloudy.

We have not received any reliable sighting report (Muhaqaq-Ruyat-Basari) from any locations east of the UK/Morocco either. The Morocco Awqaf Ministry have also confirmed  negative sighting report.

Therefore, the Wifaq/Batley Ulama have decided that the month of Jumada Al-Ula/Awwal 1434 AH will complete 30-days and the  month of Jumada Al-Ukhra/Thani 1434 AH will start from Friday 12 April 2013, Insha-Allah."



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Jim Stamm from Tucson City in Arizona State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. John Caldwell from McDonald Obs City in TX State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. John Caldwell said: "The clouds were few so not a problem.  The dust was the
reason.  If not for haze, it would have been a good chance."



3 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 8:07 pm EDT (sunset: 7:52 pm).  The western horizon was mostly clear, with a few streaks of clouds but very hazy.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon with no success.  I stayed there till 8:27 pm (moonset: 8:25 pm)."

Algeria


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa from Ghardaia City in Ghardaia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was superb, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa said: "(20) persons were present in N'tissa station and have tried to observe the Jumada II 1434 crescent, the crescent was seen. The western horizon was supreb. They have used one binocular : 50x7 and telescopic."



Hungary


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. M. Al-Majari from Bataszek City in Tolna State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Indonesia

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Bambang Eko Lasmadi from Medan City in Sumatera utara State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "On Thursday 11 April 2013 the new crescent of Jumadal Akhiroh 1434 AH was NOT SEEN from Surakarta and Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia, the west horizon was cloudy."



Iran


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Alireza Mehrani from Khour City in Esfahan State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Libya


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Mohammed Abdulkarim from البريقة City in اجدابيا State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

Time of observation: After sunset.Seen by others: ICOP member Mr. Alam Sultan from karachi City in Sindh State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Alam Sultan said: "Today (Thursday, April 11, 2013=29th Juma-dal-oola in Pakistan)Alhamdolillah, Moon was easily seen countrywide at more than 7 places. Also announced officially. Friday is 1st Juma-dath-thaniah.
"

Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Abdurrazak Ebrahim from Cape Town City in Western Cape State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Abdurrazak Ebrahim said: "The reddish haze on the western horizon reached an altitude of 6 degrees and it proved impossible to sight the crescent."



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 8:10 pm EDT (sunset: 7:53 pm).  The western horizon was mostly cloudy and hazy.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon with no success.  I stayed there till 8:30 pm (moonset: 9:23 pm)."

Jumadal Al-Aula Waning (OLD) Crescent Observation Results




Tue 09 April 2013



Germany


1 . Time of observation: Before sunrise.Photographed: ICOP member Eng. Martin Elsaesser from Munich City in Bavaria State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "The weather in Munich has been bad for months now, with this being the darkest winter (least sunshine) in decades. I had a short gap in the clouds on tuesday morning after sunrise and tried to observe the old crescent. 
I could easily detect the crescent with the imaging system at 13° elongation, but the weather was to bad to see it visually. Due to a software flaw combined with user error i only captured uncalibrated images of the crescent. Still, it is visible well enough.

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "I could not see the crescent from Juwiring Klaten. But from Assalaam Observatory on April 9, 2013 ustadz Adnan report: The weather was hard cloudly. Cloud almost compeletely covered the east sky (direction of observation), but there was a little clear spot on the sky. I were waiting and waiting and finally the crescent could be seen and captured. "
