According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Thursday 21 September 2017 and in the Western Region will be on Thursday 21 September 2017. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Muharram 1439 AH was not sighted from Banjarnegara by my Team and from Assalaam Observatory by my Students of CASA (Club Astronomi Santri Assalaam) on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 because the sky was cloudy and hazy I tried to observe with my Tim of Rowasiya and Assalaam Observatory. However the 1st of Muharram 1439 AH in Indonesia will start on Thursday, September 21st, 2017 according to the calculation. "

Thinking that the crescent would be easily visible, I did not aim the telescope, but I am pretty sure that the field of view of the finder held the image. Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 7:22 pm EDT (sunset: 7:21 pm). The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy. Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon. The first binocular sighting was at 7:32 pm. Immediately after, I saw the crescent with naked eye. The horns were at 1:30 and 6:30 O'clock (1:30;4:00;6:30). I left the area at 7:44 (moonset: 8:28 pm)."

I was at Colombo at my house couldn't sight the crescent. The horizon was partly cloudy. A positive sighting report came from Kinniya by Moulavi faizal (Rahmany) as he and some of friends sighted the waning crescent. In Srilanka sighting waxing crescent for the month of Muharram 1439 AH falls on 21st Thursday evening. "

Relative Altitude = 7.9 degrees Elongation from sun = 7.9 degrees Crescent width = 9 arc seconds Illumination = 0.48 percent I was NOT able to see the crescent, even through a telescope. Everything was good, except the humidity. Aiming and focus was spot on, and I expected to see the crescent, if not immediately, then as soon as it rose above the murk, at maybe 10 degrees. However, no image formed that lasted more than a second, until after the sun rose. Then only for two seconds. They must have been due to some kind of internal reflection.
