When to Observe Rabee' Al-Aakher Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Sunday 15 November 2020) at 05:07 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Sunday 15 November 2020) and (Monday 16 November 2020) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Monday 16 November 2020 and in the Western Region will be on Monday 16 November 2020. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdellatif Fareh from كوينين City in الوادي State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "لم يتمكن أعضاء النادي الفلكي بكوينين من رؤية هلال شهر ربيع الآخر نظرا لتراكم السحب خاصة في الأفق الغربي."

The Hilal Watch of Ghana wishes to inform Ghanaian Muslims that Monday November 16, 2020 was counted as the 1st Night of Rabi-Thaani, 1442 H.  
Reports received from our members on Platforms 1 & 2 (MOON ISSUES ONLY) represented in all the regions in Ghana indicated that, the New Crescent beginning Rabi-Thaani, 1442 H was seen in the evening of Monday November 16, 2020 ending Rabi Awwal 29 days.

The new crescent of Rabiul Tsani 1442 was not sighted on Monday, Nopember 16, 2020  from Assalaam Observatory at PPMI Assalaam Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Surakarta Central Java Indonesia. The sky was cloudy.

The moon was captured by mr. Ismail Fahmi from Kupang NTT Indonesia.

1 . Time of observation: Before sunset . Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I sighted the crescent at 1:39 pm EST.  I tried to see the moon with naked eye with no success.  It was clear but hazy. 

Later today, I sighted the moon with naked eye.  I arrived at my sighting location at 5:01 pm.  The western horizon was clear and hazy.  Using the same pair of binoculars, I started scanning the horizon.  My first binocular sighting was at 5:03 pm followed by naked eye sighting at 5:05 pm (sunset: 5:12 pm).  The horns were approximately at 2:00 and 7:00 O'clock (2:00;4:30;7:00).  Soon, I left for other places to take pictures.  I left my last sighting location at 6:21 pm while the moon was about to set (moonset: 6:34 pm)."

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "This morning, using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I sighted the waning crescent at about 6:21 am EST (moonrise: 6:06).  It was partly cloudy and somewhat hazy.  Unfortunately, I could not the crescent with naked eye.  At about 6:37, I could no longer see it even with the binoculars (sunrise: 7:01).  Although, I took several pictures, they did not come out right.  Moon was very thin with its horns at about 5:00 and 7:30 (5:00;6:00;7:30)."
