When to Observe Rabee' Al-Aakher Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Wedensday 02 October 2024) at 18:49 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Wedensday 02 October 2024) and (Thursday 3 October 2024) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Friday 04 October 2024 and in the Western Region will be on Friday 04 October 2024. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdellatif Fareh from كوينين City in الوادي State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "بسبب أحوال الطقس و تراكم الغيوم تعذرت رؤية هلال ربيع الآخر. "



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Amara GUERRAH from الرباح City in الوادي State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Amara GUERRAH said: "نظرا لوجود سحب في الأفق الغربي تعذر علينا رصد هلال شهر ربيع الآخر والذي كان بحاجة الى ظروف مثالية ومساعدة بالرؤية المسلحة ."

Mr. Juned Patel said: "The sky was completely overcast this evening at sunset, and the crescent moon was not visible."

Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "It was fairly clear weather in York/UK today (3/10/2024) and so the sunset was clearly seen. However, the 23-hrs old moon's altitude was very low (due to the Major Lunar Standstill), so it was not seen, as expected. Note that it is quite normal to have three consecutive 30-day months (as in other Muslim countries like Morocco) and sometimes four consecutive 30-day months, without affecting the calendar."

Mr. Samir Al-Busnavi said: "30 Rebi'ul - evvel 1446AH, 4.Oktober 2024,Sarajevo,Bosnia and Herzegovina,Hill Žuč region.Hilal has been seen at 18:30 local time.Very,very thin and hardly noticeable even with a binoculars.Even though yesterday was the 29th day of Rebi'ul -evvel1446AH,today being the 30th day of the month,it's proof of accurate and correct following of Hilal troughout the year."

1 . Time of observation: Before sunset . Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my observation location more than 15 minutes before sunset (sunset: 6:54 PM EDT). The western horizon was partly cloudy and very hazy. Using binoculars, I sighted Venus at 6:40 PM and the crescent moon at 6:41 PM. My first naked-eye sighting of the crescent moon occurred about 10 minutes past sunset, at 7:04 PM, although it was difficult to see. Soon after, the moon was obscured by clouds and became no longer visible. I left the observation location before moonset (moonset: 8:29 PM). The horns of the crescent moon were positioned approximately at 1:30 and 6:00 o'clock (1:30, 3:30, 6:00)."

Mr.  said: "تم رصد الهلال بالمنظار عند الساعة 5:20مساء قبل غروب الشمس ب15دقيقة 
ثم دخل في السحب ومن فجوة بين السحاب تمكنت من التقاط هذه الصورة عند الساعة 6:00مساء والهلال  على إرتفاع 6درجات ثم أختفى خلف السحب"
