When to Observe Sha'ban Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Saturday 08 June 2013) at 15:56 UT.

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Monday 10 June 2013 and in the Western Region will be on Monday 10 June 2013. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Saleh Al-Saab from buraydah City in algaseem State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was superb, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Tunisia

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Bilel Besbes from المنستير City in المنستير State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa from Ghardaia City in Ghardaia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa said: ""(07) persons were present in n'tissa station and have tried to observe the SHABAN 1434 crescent but it wasn't seen. The western horizon was hazy. They have used binocular: 7*50"



Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Sya'ban 1434 AH was NOT SEEN from Assalaam Observatory Sukoharjo-Surakarta Central Java Indonesia because the west horizon was cloudy. Today is 'uaum al-istikmal', or the 30rd of Rojab 1434 AH. Allahumma bariklana fi sya'bana wa ballighna ramadhana...."

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Bambang Eko Lasmadi from Medan City in Sumatera utara State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Iran


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Seyyed Ghasem Rostami from ‌Bojnurd City in Khorasan State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Seyyed Ghasem Rostami said: "The crescent was seen by 120 mm telescope at 20:13."

Seyyed Ghasem Rostami from Bojnord City in Khorasan State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Mohammad Zahed Aram from saravan City in balochistan State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Mohammad Zahed  Aram said: "we were about 16 persons  with 4 binoculars  :  20*110  ,  12*45 ,10* 50   ,  10 * 50"



Libya


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Mohammed Abdulkarim from البريقة City in اجدابيا State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

Mohammad Odeh from Susa City in Jabal Al-Akhdar State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was superb, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Mohammad Odeh said: "This is a daylight observation. I'm in a training course in Libya for the Libyan Ifta Department. The training is for several persons in the department on how to use the telescope and the CCD camera to see the crescent. They were so clever! Some persons have no idea about astronomy AT ALL, however, within two days they became professional :-)! The below photos were taken by one of them without any assistance from my side! They started from scratch and they got the crescent! The sky was superb! The crescent was seen from the first trial when it was only 8.5 degrees elongation with even a single frame! All the staff were able to use the CCD system and each one of them were able to see the crescent within 2-3 hours without any difficulty! I've never observed a difficult crescent by CCD with such easiness! The AOD was 0.12 for the green light and 0.08 for the red light!"

Eng. Mohammad Odeh said: "This is an observation after sunset. The crescent was easily seen by CCD. It was also seen by telescope with difficulty. Sky conditions were perfect and superb. Dr. Gaith Al-Fakhri, the Grand Mufti deputy had visited us, and all the persons in charge were happy to see the telescopes and the latest technology in crescent sighting used in Libya. The below image was taken by another Libyan gentleman who did the whole observation alone.

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Alam Sultan from karachi City in sindh State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Alam Sultan said: "Today (Sunday 29th Rajab 1434 = June 9, 2013) Our reporters tried to sight the moon at more than 32 Places countrywide but the moon was not seen. Also announced officially. Monday is 30th Rajab and Tuesday is 1st Sha'baan 1434 in Pakistan."

South Africa


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Abdurrazak Ebrahim from Cape Town City in Western Cape State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Abdurrazak Ebrahim said: "The Shabaan Hilaal was seen from various areas of South Africa this Sunday evening."

Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abe Parker from Cape Town City in Western Cape State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abe Parker said: "got to go, further details tomorrow "



Tanzania


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Zaffar Sheriff from Daressalaam City in Tanzania State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Zaffar Sheriff said: "Hazy situation over western horizon. Crescent was not sighted."



Tunisia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "On Sunday 9 June 2013 (29 Rajab 1434 AH) many people from throughout the UK have attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Shaban after sunset. None of the groups were able to sight the Hilal, even though many places had clear conditions.

However, we have received reliable sighting report (Muhaqaq-Ruyat-Basari) from South Africa of a positive sighting.

Therefore, the Wifaqul Ulama have decided that the month of Rajab 1434 AH will have 29-days and the month of Shaban 1434 AH will start from Monday 10 June 2013, making the night of 15 Shaban on Sunday 23 June, Insha-Allah.

Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in VA State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "The sky was totally cloudy; it was raining at 8:45 pm EDT (sunset: 8:41 pm).  I kept checking the western horizon for a possible clearing till moonset (moonset: 9:28 pm)."

Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa said: "The crescent was easily seen at 19:32 pm with naked eye from BABA SAAD Echarki mosquée in Ghardaia south Algeria, mercure and venus were seen with the crescent. "



Libya

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "The crescent was easily seen at 8:50 pm EDT with naked eye (sunset: 8:42 pm).  I left the location prior to moonset (moonset: 10:47 pm). "

1 . Time of observation: Before sunrise. Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "Mrs. Muflih Arisa Adnan and Me tried ti observe the old crescent if Rojab 1434 AH. He observed the hilal at Assalaam Observatory and I did at my backyard. The hilal was seen both from Surakarta and Juwiring Klaten."
