In this page:-

When to Observe ?

The geocentric new Moon will occur Inshalla on Sunday (23 November 2003), at 22:59 UT. On this day, it is not possible to see the crescent from anywhere on Earth.

While on the next day (Monday 24 November 2003) the program Moon Calculator by Dr. Monzur Ahmed -according to Yallop criterion- showed that its possible to see the crescent by an optical aid from the center part of the Indian ocean, center parts of Africa and southern parts of North America, and by naked eyes from southern parts of Africa, most of the Pacific ocean, Central and South America.

According to the actual sighting of the crescent, the start of Shawwal should be on Tuesday 25 November 2003 in Africa and the America Continents, or on Wednesday 26 November 2003 in the rest of the world.

The visibility parabola as plotted by the program Moon Calculator
