When to Observe Shawwal Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Saturday 29 March 2025) at 10:58 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Saturday 29 March 2025) and (Sunday 30 March 2025) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Monday 31 March 2025 and in the Western Region will be on Sunday 30 March 2025. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Ledjo Hyka from Tirane City in Albania State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Ledjo Hyka said: "We were a lot of groups around the country and the sky was partly cloudy in some cities but no one sighted the moon. So 31 March is the first day of Shawwal in Albania for those who follow local moonsighting "



Algeria

Dr. Abderrahmane Selka said: "بعد بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
تمت محاولة رؤية الهلال بكل الوسائل الممكنة سواءا بالكاميرا او بالتلسكوب او بالمنظار او بالعين المجردة ولم تتم رؤية الهلال في ولاية تيميمون بلدية تيميمون."

#امكانية_رؤية_الهلال_من_عدمه : 
 •  رؤية الهلال غير ممكنة بالعين المجردة  و غير ممكنة بالتلسكوب من أي مكان في العالم العربي الإسلامي ، نظرا لعدم إمكانية توفر الأرقام القياسية للرصد الفلكي.
•  أما بخصوص استخدام تقنية التصوير الفلكي الحديثة لرصد هلال شوال 1446 تكون في حالة صفاء التام للغلاف الجوي فقط و حسب معيار : "أم القرى" فلكيا يكون قد توفر شرطين أساسين و هما : 
حدوث الاقتران المركزي قبل غروب الشمس.
و غروب القمر بعد غروب الشمس 
و عليه ، #فلكيا سيكون #يوم_الأحد_30_مارس2025 هو #أول أيام شهر شوال 1446 هـ ،أي يكون يوم الأحد أول أيام عيد الفطر المبارك.
و في #انتظار_ترقب و الرصد الفلكي للهلال و الإعلان الرسمي من طرف #الهيئات_الرسمية عبر العالم العربي الإسلامي يوم السبت المقبل ان شاء الله فـــاللَّهُمَّ أهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالأَمْنِ والإيمَانِ، والسَّلامَةِ والإسْلاَمِ، والتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا يُحبُّ ربُّنا ويَرْضَى. فـــاللَّهُمَّ تقبل منا و منكم صالح الأعمال."

Mr. Messaoud Kechida said: "ككل شهر هجري يستطلع أعضاء النادي الفلكي الهلال حيث مساء السبت إختفى شعاع الشمس قبل 20 الى 25 دقيقة من موعد غروبها ثم إختفى تماما قرص الشمس قبل الغروب بحوالي 10 خلف الغبار الكثيف العالق فوق الأفق الغربي ب 10 ° تقريبا ولهذا تعذر رصد الهلال حتى وان كان في الامكان رصده "

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Shawal 1446 AH was not seen on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from Assalaam Observatory, The ASSALAAM Islamic Modern Boarding School at Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo (Surakarta) Central Java Indonesia. The sky was clear with partly cloudy.

The new crescent was not sighted from all over.locations in Indonesia.

Ramadhan will complete 30 days, and the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH will start on Moonday, March 31, 2025."



Iraq

Mr. HASAN AHMED HASAN said: "لقد قمت الاستهلاك على رغم من معطياته ضعيف جدا وكما كان متوقع لم ارى هلال بسبب قربه من أفق ومن الشمس شئ لدي كان غير متوقع الاعلان رؤية هلال في حوطة سدير كيف تمكنوا من رؤية هلال و حالة جوي كان غائم عندهم و حالة جوي في جدة كان صافي حوطة سدير يقع في شرق و جدة تقع في غرب السعودية إذا اعتمدنا على رؤية هلال في شرق يجب رؤيته في غرب وليس عكس!"

Mr. Abdullah Al Agha said: "تمّ تحرّي الهلال من على مئذنة جامع شهداء المشارقة في مدينة حلب، كان الأفق الغربي خالٍ من الغيوم ونسبة الصفاء جيّدة نوعاً ما ولم تتم رؤية الهلال."

Dr. Ayyub Patel said: "Western Horizon and Sky was full of clouds and it was very windy and cold. Crescent was not seen"

Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "It was totally cloudy in York today (29/3/2025) from before sunset, so the moon was not seen. Technically, it was not possible to be seen even if the skies were clear since we had seen the Partial Solar Eclipse earlier in the day, where we watched the New Moon Conjunction with our protected eyes."



United States

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "The sky near the western horizon was mostly cloudy. According to various models, there was little chance of seeing the moon in our area, even with conventional telescopes and under excellent weather conditions. One wonders how it was possible to see a much younger crescent moon in West Asia. It’s even more concerning for other nations that believe such claims and follow them!"

Azerbaijan

Mr. Abdullah Omar Azeri said: "غروب الشمس: الساعة 19:05، وعمر الهلال: +26 ساعة و43 دقيقة.
ومع ذلك، لم يكن الهلال مرئيًا في الساعات الأولى بعد غروب الشمس.
لم أتمكن من رؤيته بالعين المجردة إلا حوالي الساعة 19:25.
وهذا دليل على أنه البارحة لم يكن من الممكن رؤية الهلال لا بالعين المجردة، ولا بالتلسكوب، ولا بالكاميرات عالية الدقة.
وفي النهاية، أسأل الله أن يتقبل صيام جميع المسلمين، وأهنئ من يحتفلون بالعيد اليوم، وكذلك من يحتفلون به غدًا.

Güneşin batma vakti : 19:05 , Hilalin ömrü : +26H 43M Buna rağmen güneşin battığı ilk saatlerde Hilal gözükmüyordu.Hilali çıplak gözle yalnız 19: 25 lerde göre bildim.Buda şuna kanıttır ki, dün hilali ne çıplak gözle nede teleskop ve cdd kamera ile görmek mümkün değildi.Sonuçta tüm müslümanlardan oruçlarını rabbimizden kabul etmesini diliyor , Bu gün bayram kutlayanlar ve yarın bayram kutlayanları tebrik ediyorum.Allah sizden de bizdende kabul etsin"

Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "The weather conditions were quite bad with cloud cover in several layers. I only could image the crescent in a short period of somewhat fewer clouds around local noon. As i had to work with a not well suited telescope the technical quality was quite bad. But still, i could observe it on this day."
