وقال عضو المشروع السيد عبد العزيز أنيانج "Moon age at sunset local time was 8 hrs 33 mins. and set just 14 mins, after sunset. Hopefully, it will be seen tonight Monday July 24th after our local sunset time of 6:19 pm."
وقال عضو المشروع المهندس قمر الدين "There were over twenty people in our York Astronomical Society Observatory group, following a training session earlier in the day at the York Mosque about the principle and practice of moon sighting. Volunteers came from Doncaster (4), Bolton (2), Batley (4), Newcastle (1) and York (4), plus a number of astronomers. It was clear sky before sunset but it soon became cloudy after sunset when the moon was very close to the horizon below the treeline. Two of the astronomers said they saw it with binoculars for few seconds (before sunset), but majority of us could not see it with either binoculars or naked eye (before or after sunset). It was good practice for our new participants and they went away confident to try the methods of locating the moon in their own cities in future, InshaAllah"

I was at Nilaveli a place situated in N.Eastern Province in Trincomalee District. I reached the place 8th mile post Nilaveli early morning on Monday and i was associated by Moulavi Muaad (Haleemi) and Moulavi Hisham (Meezani). Distance: 361311.40 Km I am at Colombo and sighted the crescent very straight down Venus from 2nd floor of my house at 5.05am until the Sunrise 6.02am. The orientation was 4-10 o'clock at the start of the sighting but it decreased to 4-8 o'clock when it got close to the Sunrise time. Positive sighting reports also came from Pottuvil by Moulavi Abdul Hai (Rashady), Thihariya by Moulavi Mazeen Al-Makhdoomy (Hasani), Kinniya by Moulavi faizal (Rahmany) and from Galle by Bro.Abdullah. It is very clear evident that tomorrow on Sunday morning sighting the waning crescent is impossible as well as the countries whom are expecting to sight the waxing crescent after Sunset for the month of Dhul-Qadah has to think twice how they can ask the public to sight for the crescent on a day where the conjunction occurs very close to the Sunset time."
